It is no secret that the time has arrived for individuals and families to change the way they look at household water consumption and start making some environmentally responsible changes at home.
Why is it necessary to start saving water at home? The Environmental Protection Agency has initiated a program called WaterSense aimed at helping home owners to determine where they can make changes regarding water consumption and where they can find water efficient products for their personal bathrooms and kitchens.
Water Facts:
According to WaterSense it is important to start thinking about water conservation at home, “Because it’s our most precious natural resource, and because at least two-thirds of the United States have experienced or are bracing for local, regional, or statewide water shortages. With populations continuing to rise, using water wisely helps save this vital resource for future generations.”
How will conserving water at home help you? WaterSense says that, “if every household in America, who spends on average $500 a year on water and sewer bills, converted to energy efficient toilets, showers and faucets, the US would save 3 trillion gallons of water and $18 billion annually. This would amount to $170 per year in savings on energy bills for the average household.” So not only are you helping to protect the environment by conserving the water you use at home you can also save money monthly!
WaterSense has even gone as far as creating a water consumption tool which will help households determine how much water they can save at home! Find out how much water you can save at home by installing water efficient faucets in your bathroom!
